Nahum

What happens when a nation turns its back on God after experiencing his mercy? The books of Jonah and Nahum tell that story across 100 to 150 years -- from a city that repented and was spared, to a city that returned to wickedness and faced destruction.

Nahum 1:7 reminds us that God is both just and good -- a stronghold for those who trust him, yet one who will not leave the wicked unpunished. That tension is not a contradiction. It is the full picture of who God is.

The connections woven through these two books point forward to Christ -- a Jewish prophet swallowed by the sea for three days, a ministry centered in Capernaum (the city of Nahum), and a crucifixion method rooted in Assyrian cruelty. The very empire judged in Nahum invented the instrument of our salvation.

Come study the minor prophets with us and see how every piece of Scripture points to Jesus.
