Why Did God Become a Man?

In our exploration of the Incarnation, we delve into the mystery of why God became man. The central theme revolves around John 1, where we encounter the powerful declaration that 'the Word became flesh.' This divine act wasn't just a historical event, but a cosmic shift where the eternal stepped into time, the spiritual became physical, and the Creator entered His own creation. We're challenged to see beyond the familiar Christmas story and grasp the miraculous nature of this event. The message draws fascinating parallels between God's redemptive plan and the concept of the Kinsman Redeemer from the book of Ruth. Just as Boaz needed to be a relative, willing, and able to redeem Ruth, Christ became our relative through His humanity, was willing in His love, and able through His divinity to redeem us. This perspective invites us to marvel at God's intricate plan of salvation and to appreciate the depths of His love that led Him to become one of us.
