What happens when life gets busy and God gets moved to the back burner? The people who returned from Babylonian exile did exactly that. They came back with passion to rebuild God's temple, but slowly traded worship for comfort and luxury while God's house sat in ruins.

Through the prophet Haggai, God's message was direct: "Consider your ways." When our priorities are out of order, no amount of striving will bring satisfaction. As Haggai 1:6 describes, it is like earning wages only to put them into a bag full of holes.

The beautiful part? When the people heard God's word, they responded. Within three weeks, they were back to work. And God's answer was immediate: "I am with you."

The same principle Jesus taught echoes through this ancient story. Seek first the kingdom of God, and everything else follows. Where are your priorities today?
