Reformation Day

Today is Reformation Day, and the question at the heart of it is timeless: what is the highest authority for the Christian faith? Martin Luther did not invent something new in 1517. He went back to something ancient, the scriptures themselves, written by the apostles in the first century.

The answer the Reformation recovered is found right in Romans 3 and Ephesians 2. We are justified by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, according to Scripture alone, to the glory of God alone. There is nothing you can add to what Christ accomplished on the cross. It is finished.
