The Book of Obadiah

Ever wonder what happens when nations mock God's people and reject their cries for help? The book of Obadiah—the shortest in the Old Testament—delivers a powerful answer.


This tiny book tells the story of Edom, a nation that stood by and even celebrated when Jerusalem fell. They captured fleeing refugees and handed them over to their enemies. They chose pride over compassion, mockery over mercy. God's response? "Your reprisal shall return upon your own head." And history proves it—the Edomites were completely wiped out, just as prophesied.


Here's the stunning truth: Edom's destruction foreshadows what awaits all nations on the Day of the Lord. God always keeps His promises—both of judgment and restoration. Israel is back in the land, just as predicted. What God says will happen, happens.


The question for us today: Are we standing with God's purposes, or are we standing on the sidelines mocking what we don't understand?
