Writing on the Wall: Daniel 5

Ever thought you were untouchable? The kingdom of Babylon did—until the night everything changed.

In Daniel 5, King Belshazzar threw a party to mock God, using sacred temple vessels while enemies surrounded his "impenetrable" city. Then a hand appeared, writing judgment on the wall: "Measured, weighed, divided." That very night, Babylon fell to the Persians—exactly as Daniel predicted.

Here's the truth: our pride blinds us to our vulnerability. We think we're in control until God reminds us we're not. Belshazzar's grandfather Nebuchadnezzar learned this the hard way, and so did his kingdom. The same God who humbled the greatest empire in the world calls us to humble ourselves before Him. We can't ascend to God's throne on our own merit—we need to be clothed in Christ's righteousness.

What areas of your life feel "impenetrable"? Where has pride crept in? God's Word proves true every time, even when the world doubts it.
