The Departure of Glory: Understanding God's Judgment and Redemption in Ezekiel

May 4, 2026    Pastor Steve Finley

What happens when God's glory departs? In our latest study of Ezekiel, we wrestle with one of Scripture's most sobering moments: "The glory of the Lord departed from the temple." For centuries, God warned His people. He sent prophets. He pleaded for repentance. Yet hearts remained hard.

Ezekiel didn't just preach—he acted out God's message through dramatic visual aids. Why? Because the people had stopped listening. Sometimes we need to see truth, not just hear it. His strange actions—laying on his side for days, cooking bread over cow dung, shaving his head—all pointed to the devastating consequences of ignoring God's voice.

But here's the hope: judgment isn't the end of the story. After judgment comes redemption. The same pattern we see throughout Scripture culminates at the cross, where all our deserved judgment was paid in full. No debt remains. Only restoration awaits.

Are we listening today, or have our ears grown dull? Join us as we continue exploring Ezekiel's powerful prophecies and discover what they mean for us now.
