1 Kings 18: Showdown on Mt, Carmel
Sometimes faith means standing alone. Elijah faced 450 false prophets, a corrupt king, and a culture that had abandoned God. He felt isolated, outnumbered, and the odds were impossible. But here's the truth: with God on your side, you're never truly alone.
The world will make stricter demands on your faith than it does on anything else. People will believe things that feel good with zero evidence, but require mountains of proof before they'll consider God's truth. So what did Elijah do? He made it HARDER on himself. He drenched the altar with water three times before asking God to light it on fire. Why? Because when you're standing for truth, you can afford to set the bar high.
Here's what we need to remember: Not everything God asks you to do is safe. Faith requires risk. There IS a time for confrontation, a time to stop being the world's doormat and stand up for what's right. And the blessing for your obedience? It might not come immediately. Elijah prayed seven times before the rain cloud appeared. Faith requires perseverance.
You might feel like you're the only one fighting for truth in your workplace, your school, your family. But God is raising up people just like Elijah. The question is: do you have the courage to be first?
Embrace the holy. Cut off the wicked. Stand firm even when you stand alone.
