Amos 5-9
"I was no prophet, nor was I a son of a prophet, but I was a sheep breeder... Then the Lord took me and said to me, go prophesy to my people Israel."
Amos wasn't looking for a platform. He was a simple farmer who answered God's call to speak truth in dark times. His message? The door is still open. "Seek me and live" (Amos 5:4).
Israel had traded justice for injustice, righteousness for self-serving religion. They were comfortable in their sin, silent in the face of evil. Sound familiar? Yet even in judgment, God's promise remains: "I will not utterly destroy the house of Jacob" (Amos 9:8).
The same God who holds the plumb line—the unchanging standard of truth—is the God who promises restoration. He doesn't grade on a curve, but He never breaks His promises. The millennial kingdom is coming, where mountains will drip with sweet wine and His people will finally be home.
