James 5:13-20

Life is not always easy, even when you are faithfully following God. The early church knew this firsthand, and James wrote to remind scattered, persecuted believers of something powerful: God has always kept His promises. From Elijah's drought and restoration in 1 Kings 17 to the faithfulness you have witnessed in your own life, the past proves that God does not change.

James 5:13-18 calls us to pray in suffering, sing in joy, seek prayer when we are sick, and confess to one another. The Christian life is lived together, not in isolation, and every believer carries the ability to turn someone from darkness toward life.

Even in difficulty, we are not praying to a distant God. We are praying to one who suffered Himself, and who keeps every promise He has ever made. He was a promise keeper then, He is one today, and He will be one tomorrow.
