James 4:13-5:12
What are you really building your life on? This week's message from James 4:13-5:12 challenges us to examine where we've placed our trust—in the temporary comforts of this world or in the eternal promise of Christ's return.
Just like a farmer who tills the soil and plants seeds but waits on God for the rain, we're called to actively prepare for Christ's return while trusting Him completely. The apostle James reminds us not to boast about our plans for tomorrow, but instead to say, "If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that." Our hope isn't in our bank accounts, career plans, or earthly security—it's in Jesus.
The question is simple but profound: Are we living with the expectation of Christ's return? Are we cultivating the land around us, planting gospel seeds in the lives of others? Patiently waiting doesn't mean standing still. It means working with purpose, knowing that the Judge is standing at the door. Trust in Christ. Live expectantly. Pursue the eternal.
