Luke 5:27-39

What if the very thing holding you back from Jesus is thinking you have it all together? In Luke 5, Jesus calls Matthew — a despised tax collector — with two simple words: "Follow me." And Matthew walked away from everything to respond.

The religious leaders who should have recognized Jesus were too comfortable in their traditions to see what was right in front of them. But the ones who knew they were broken? They were ready. Jesus said it plainly — he did not come for those who think they are well, but for those who know they are sick (Luke 5:31-32).

Jesus is bringing something new. A new covenant, a new life, a new wineskin. And no matter what you have done or where you have been, his voice is still calling. The only question is whether you will respond like Matthew or trust in yourself like the Pharisees.
