Luke 2:39-52

What happens when we encounter something that should stop us in our tracks -- and then just... move on? At 12 years old, Jesus sat in the temple astonishing Israel's greatest scholars with his understanding and answers (Luke 2:46-47). And then those same scholars let 18 years pass and forgot about it entirely.

That is a warning for all of us.

This week we explored the closing chapter of Jesus' early years through Luke's Gospel -- the only writer to record this moment. We wrestled with the mystery of who Jesus truly is: fully divine, fully human, the craftsman who created everything and then put on flesh to repair what was broken. All he asks is that we place our faith in him.

Do not let the greatest story ever told become background noise in your life. The God who made you became one of us -- that deserves more than a passing moment of awe.
